Level List - Namek Saga
Though the Earth is seemingly
safe after the defeat of Vegeta
by Gokou, Kuririn and Gohan, the
death of the rest of the Z Senshi
does not go un-noticed. All of
the humans crave to wish Piccolo,
Tenshinhan, Yamucha and Chao-zu
back to the living world, but
since Piccolo died protecting
Gohan from Nappa, Kami has also
involuntarily died, and as he
passed away, so did the dragonballs.
However, Kuririn recalls Vegeta
wondering about the origin of
the dragonballs, and also how
Vegeta believed that the planet
Namek was the home of the dragonballs.
So, in order to wish their friends
back to life, the remaining Z
Senshi (along with Buruma) find
a wrecked Namek space pod (The
old Piccolo's ship) and set off
for their new goal, Namek. However,
Gokou is still too badly injured
from his battle with Vegeta to
go with Gohan, Kuririn and Buruma,
so he is forced to remain in the
hospital and recover.
Meanwhile, Vegeta, rocketing across
space in his pod, is hooked up
to a life-support system. With
no other method of healing himself
after his vicious defeat at the
hands of Kakorot, he heads towards
a base of his overlord, Freeza.
On the planet, Vegeta heals himself,
then snatches another space pod,
and heads towards Namek, so that
he can wish for immortality with
the Namekian dragonballs.
Kuririn, Buruma and Gohan arrive
on planet Namek after their long
journey, and find that there are
few Nameks left, though the dragonballs
do seem to be around. To their
sheer horror though, they find
an extremely powerful tyrant named
Freeza, with four of the dragonballs
already in his possession. They
catch him just as he is about
to capture the fifth dragonball.
A trio of Namek farmers attempt
to defend the dragonball and the
town in which it rests, but they
are easily defeated by Freeza's
henchmen, Zaabon and Dodoria.
Kuririn and Gohan intervene, and
although they fail to capture
the fifth dragonball, they do
manage to save a young Namek,
named Dende from destruction.
They then narrowly manage to avoid
Freeza and his warriors.
As all this is happening, Vegeta
lands on Namek, and upon finding
Freeza and his henchmen also on
the planet, goes out and collects
a dragonball for himself, so that
Freeza will not be able to get
all seven, at least, not without
defeating him. Just to ensure
this, he hides the dragonball
in the ruins of a destroyed Namek
village. Before long though, he
is discovered by Kui, and then
Dodoria, both of whom he defeats
rather handily. Once Zaabon catches
up with him though, he finds a
bit more of a challenge. He manages
to out-match Zaabon at first,
but then the green warrior transforms
into a more powerful mode, and
Vegeta is badly beaten up. Freeza
orders Vegeta to be brought back
to his space-ship, as opposed
to being killed though. Vegeta
is then thrown into a rejuvenation
chamber.
Back on Earth, Gokou is given
a bag of senzu beans by Karin,
and his recovery is quickly complete.
He then hops on a new space pod,
created by doctor briefs, which
has a machine capable of creating
of 100X normal gravity field.
He fires the ship towards Namek
and begins training so that he
will be well prepared for the
new enemies he will face on Namek.
Kuririn is meanwhile directed
by Dende towards the home of the
Namek elder, Guru (the dub name),
who is the creator of the dragonballs.
Kuririn manages to get to Guru's
place without much trouble, while
Gohan is left to guard Buruma.
Guru reads Kuririn's mind and
finds out what he wishes to do
with the dragonballs. The ancient
and large Namek then proceeds
to give Kuririn another dragonball,
and then un-locks some of Kuririn's
un-locked power, giving Kuririn
a rather large power-up. Realizing
how powerful such a power-up could
make Gohan, Kuririn leaves Dende
with Guru and the last remaining
Namek figher, Neil, to go get
Gohan so Guru can un-lock the
boy's amazing potential.
Gohan though, is not just lying
around peacefully, guarding Buruma.
He picks up a dormant dragonball
on Buruma's dragon radar, and
then flies over and snatches it
up. Then, he begins to head back
to Buruma.
All the while, Gokou is heading
towards Namek, training his absolute
hardest, so that he will be prepared.
Vegeta is not just lying around
on the job either though. He quickly
busts out of his rejuvenation
chamber after he is completely
healed, and then manages to sneak
around Freeza's ship until he
finds all five of the dragonballs
Freeza possesses. He throws them
out of the ship, effectively hiding
them from Freeza, or anyone else
for that matter. He then shoots
off to the location of his five
dragonballs, and then waits for
one of the last remaining dragonballs
to make an appearance.
Zaabon realizes that Vegeta has
escaped, and quickly alerts Freeza,
who orders Zaabon to find Vegeta
and bring him back again. Zaabon
sets off to the skies, but finds
it incredibly hard to track down
the Saiya-jin warrior. Meanwhile,
Freeza summons his most elite
group of warriors, the Ginyu Squad,
to planet Namek, so he can once
and for all get all the dragonballs
in his possession.
As Kuririn is heading back to
get Gohan so that he can get his
hidden powers unleashed, both
Zaabon and Vegeta see him, and
both set off in chase of the bald-headed
warrior. Kuririn is oblivious
to this, and leads them both to
Buruma's position. Vegeta and
Zaabon both surprise the humans
by their sudden arrival, and the
two do battle to see who deserves
to take the dragonball from Kuririn.
In a sleek twist of fate, Vegeta
defeats Zaabon, even after the
being has transformed into his
more powerful form. Vegeta then
forces Kuririn to give up the
dragonball, and heads back to
the place where he thinks he hid
the first ball.
But instead of the ball being
in the destroyed village where
Vegeta had hid it, Gohan instead
has it, and is flying towards
Kuririn and Buruma, the ball safely
in his grasp. He arrives at Kuririn's
and Buruma's position, and finds
out what happened. The half-saiya-jin
and human Kuririn then leave the
last dragonball in Buruma's possession,
and head off to Guru's so Gohan
can get his power-up.
Vegeta quickly discovers that
Gohan must've stolen the ball,
and heads off after Kuririn and
Gohan. The pair of Z Senshi reach
Guru's place first though, and
Gohan is able to get his power-up
from Guru before Vegeta reaches
their location. Just as the Saiya-jin
prince is about to attack the
Z Senshi though, he senses that
the Ginyu Squad is arriving, and
he begs with the Earthlings to
pair up with him and use the dragonballs
to help them defeat the Ginyu.
Gohan and Kuririn grudgingly accept
Vegeta's offer, and the three
head off to Buruma to get the
last dragonball.
Upon reaching Buruma (who is extremely
distraught), they snatch up the
dragonball and head off to the
location of the other five. By
the time they reach them though,
the Ginyu Squad is already on
the scene, and besides having
the five balls of Vegeta's they
also manage to steal the last
two from the Z Senshi. While Captain
Ginyu brings the balls back to
Freeza, the other four decide
amongst themselves who will defeat
the human weaklings.
Ginyu Sub-Saga
Through an... intense game of
Paper, Rock, Scissors, it is decided
that Gurudo, the weakest of the
Ginyu Squad will go to battle
first. Gohan and Kuririn valiantly
attack him, and it is quite obvious
that he is physically much weaker
than they are, but by using his
psychic and time-controlling attacks,
he pushes both of them to the
edge. Just when he is about to
finish them off though, Vegeta
appears on the scene and decapitates
Gurudo with a ki blast.
Meanwhile, the dragonballs make
their way to Freeza, who attempts
to make his wish, only to find
that they don't work. He remembers
a Namek telling him that they
need a password in order to activate
the balls. In anger, he rushes
off towards Guru's position in
order to get the password.
It is then decided that Rikum
will do battle with the Z Senshi
next. He and Vegeta go at it,
and it is shown that the Saiya-jin
is no match for the Ginyu member.
Kuririn also attempts to defeat
the huge brute, but he is quickly
dispatched. It is then up to Gohan
to save the Z Senshi. While he
does hold his own against Rikum
for a while, eventually he is
defeated, and it seems all hope
is lost for the Earthling warriors.
But just as it seems the tides
have changed for the very worst
for the Earthlings, a light streaks
across the sky. It is Gokou, who
has finally arrived on Namek after
completing his gravity training.
He lands his space pod and gives
Vegeta, Gohan and Kuririn all
senzu beans before turning his
attention to Rikum. He easily
dodges the large brute's attacks,
and then floors the red-headed
fighter with a single elbow.
Baata and Jiisu are both amazed
at Rikum's seemingly simple defeat,
but no one is more amazed than
Vegeta, who believes that Gokou
may have very well reached a new
level, and become a "Super Saiya-jin".
Jiisu and Baata both attack Gokou
in unison, attempting to catch
the Saiya-jin off guard. He easily
handles both of them though, and
before long he knocks Baata out
as well. Jiisu, scared for his
life, rushes away to get help
from Captain Ginyu, and Gokou
is content to let him escape.
Vegeta does not wish Rikum and
Baata to be left alive, so he
quickly and brutally kills both
of them, much to Gokou's dismay.
Jiisu arrives at Freeza's spaceship
and asks Captain Ginyu for help.
He wonders why he should need
it, but agrees to go and fight
Gokou. He then orders the dragonballs
hidden in the ground so that the
Z Senshi will not be able to find
them. He and Jiisu then head to
Gokou and the others' position.
When Ginyu and Jiisu arrive, Gokou
and Vegeta begin to face off against
them, but Vegeta then ditches
his Saiya-jin companion in order
to claim the dragonballs for himself.
Gokou then sends Gohan and Kuririn
after the mystical balls as well,
in the hopes that they will beat
Vegeta there. Gokou and Ginyu
then face off, with the two seeming
almost completely even. Then,
after Ginyu and Jiisu gain a slight
advantage, Ginyu coaxes Gokou
into powering up with Kaioken
to show his true power. The results
are astounding, as Ginyu realizes
Gokou is far stronger than he
ever thought. He then realizes
the Saiya-jin has far outmatched
him, and using a very tricky manuever,
injures his own body and then
switches bodies with Gokou. Ginyu
is amazed at the power of his
new body, and, with Jiisu, heads
back to Freeza's ship and the
dragonballs.
Meanwhile, Vegeta is arriving
at Freeza's ship, and easily clears
out the guards there. He is then
amazed to find that he cannot
locate the dragonballs, and decides
to wait until one of the Z Senshi
finds them and then he will step
in and make his wish. Gohan and
Kuririn arrive soon after, and
then, using a scouter, find the
dragonballs buried underneath
the grass. They try and make their
wish as well, but come to the
same fate as Freeza did, finding
they need a password.
Also while this is happening,
Guru is sensing Freeza's nearing
presence, and sends Dende to give
Gohan and Kuririn the code needed
to make the wishes with the dragonballs.
Ginyu, in Gokou's body, arrives
at Freeza's ship, and begins messing
around with Gohan and Kuririn.
Before long though, the real Gokou
lands and warns the Z Senshi about
Ginyu's body switch. Gohan and
Kuririn begin to pound on Ginyu
in Gokou's body, and Ginyu is
quickly shown that he is outmatched.
Vegeta does not help out though,
as he is busy doing battle with
Jiisu. The two are almost evenly
matched, but Vegeta then shows
his true power and easily blows
Jiisu away. Soon after, Vegeta
joins in against Ginyu, and severely
damages Gokou's body. Ginyu sees
that because he is not used to
Gokou's body, that he is no match
for Vegeta. He attempts to switch
bodies with Vegeta, but Gokou
jumps in the way and gets his
old (and badly damaged) body back.
Ginyu, now back in his original
body, again tries to switch with
Vegeta, but this time Gokou throws
a frog in the way, and Ginyu is
put in the body of a frog.
As this is happening, Freeza reaches
Guru's house and tries to intimidate
the huge Namek into giving up
the password for the dragonballs.
Just before Guru does though,
Neil steps in and challenges Freeza
so that Dende will have time to
give the Z Senshi the password.
He *attempts* to do battle with
Freeza, but its soon quite obvious
he is nowhere near Freeza in power.
The horned being quickly does
Neil in, but as he is doing so,
Neil reveals that he was just
stalling for Dende. Enraged, Freeza
sets back for his ship, letting
Neil live in the process.
Gokou's body is too badly damaged
for him to do anything though,
and Vegeta offers to help heal
him in a rejuvenation chamber
within Freeza's ship. Gokou goes
inside the chamber and begins
his healing process. Vegeta, who
is wasted from his countless battles,
takes a short nap. While he is
resting, Dende arrives on the
scene, and gives Gohan and Kuririn
the required password. They summon
the Namekian dragon, and using
their first wish, they call back
Piccolo, who had been training
with the North-Kaiosama after
being killed by Nappa on Earth.
With the second wish, they bring
Piccolo to Namek, so that he can
aid them in their fight against
Freeza. But since they didn't
specify where they wanted him
to arrive on Namek, he is nowhere
from the ship. Almost immediately
after the second wish, Vegeta
awakens to find that they summoned
the dragon without him. He rushes
to the dragonballs to wish for
immortality (so he can finally
kill Freeza), but just then, Guru
dies. And since he is the creator
of the dragonballs, they also
lose their power. It is then that
Freeza arrives.
Freeza Sub-saga
Freeza lands at his spaceship,
and instantly almost everyone
is paralyzed in fear. Vegeta though,
adamantly stands against his one-time
owner, and actually manages to
almost match power with Freeza.
Soon though, the being powers
up slightly, and then reveals
that he can actually transform
into a more powerful being than
he already is!
Piccolo, fearing that his friends
are in danger, flies towards Freeza's
ship, and on the way, he encounters
the badly injured Neil. Neil convinces
Piccolo that Freeza is too powerful
for him to beat alone, and using
a Namekian fusion technique, the
two fuse into a single, super-powered
Namek. With newfound strength,
the new Piccolo heads towards
Freeza once again.
Back at the spaceship, Freeza
shows just how amazing he is by
transforming into a monster far
more powerful than ever before.
He easily skewers Kuririn with
his horn, and then begins to go
after Gohan. Gohan though is enraged
by Kuririn's death, and actually
does quite a bit of damage to
Freeza. While Freeza is down,
Dende heals Kuririn with a magical
healing gift given to him by Guru.
Meanwhile, Freeza shows that he
was not that badly injured by
Gohan, and powers up slightly
before going after the small half-Saiya-jin.
Kuririn then springs out of nowhere
and distracts Freeza long enough
for Dende to heal Gohan.
Gokou, meanwhile, is not yet fully
healed, and continues to rest
up in the rejuvenation chamber,
until he is healed and can once
more help out his friends.
Just as Dende finishes, Freeza
confronts Vegeta, Kuririn and
Gohan. The three are prepared
to attack him all at their full
power, but then Piccolo arrives,
and astoundingly claims that he
can take Freeza on all by himself.
The two begin to fight, and at
first glance it appears that they
are even, but then Vegeta sees
that Piccolo is in fact Freeza's
superior. After Piccolo begins
to show Freeza how is more powerful,
Freeza powers up to his max power
for his body, and pounds on Piccolo
slightly. Then, the last Namek
warrior takes off his weighted
clothes, and Freeza realizes that
his second form will not be powerful
enough to defeat Piccolo. He surprises
everyone by stating he has two
more transformations up his sleeve.
Freeza again transforms into his
third form, and Piccolo tries
to take on this new menace. Freeza
though, far outmatches Piccolo
in speed and strength, and almost
in joy, begins to pound on the
Namek. Gohan is infuriated as
his former mentor is being pounded
on, and fires a huge blast at
Freeza in rage. The shape-shifting
demon manages to narrowly defend
himself against the blast, and
feels that he in order to once
and for all defeat the Z Senshi,
he will have to transform into
his fourth and final form. He
begins the transformation process,
and gives the Z Senshi a small
window of break.
Gokou is very, very worried about
his friends, but knows that he
can't help them unless he finishes
healing.
Vegeta then resorts to desperate
measures, and formulates a plan.
He tells Kuririn to severely injure
him, so that after he is done,
Dende can heal him, therefore
giving him a huge boost in strength,
and turn him into a Super Saiya-jin.
Kuririn reluctantly does as he
is told, but Dende finds it hard
to cure someone who has done so
much damage to his people. Gohan
and Kuririn convince Dende to
proceed though, and the small
Namek eventually does heal the
Saiya-jin.
Vegeta, amazed at the power he
receives from the healing, goes
to confront Freeza, who has just
finished transforming. Before
he can reach the mutant though,
Freeza kills Dende, realizing
that without someone to heal their
warriors, the Z Senshi are at
a serious disadvantage. Vegeta
then attempts his luck on Freeza's
fourth form, but Freeza shows
that he is far beyond the power
of Vegeta. He easily dodges all
of Freeza's advances, and then
begins to pummel on the hapless
Saiya-jin.
Meanwhile, Gokou is extremely
scared for Vegeta and the rest,
and just as he is reminiscing,
his healing finishes and he blasts
his way out of Freeza's ship.
He then heads to the location
of the battle, which has since
moved away from Freeza's ship.
He arrives none too soon though,
and intervenes just as Freeza
is about to finish Vegeta off.
Vegeta angers Freeza by saying
that Gokou will easily defeat
him, and then the smallish white
brute kills the Saiya-jin prince
once and for all, by shooting
him through the heart with a ki
blast. Before Vegeta dies though,
he tells Gokou to defeat Freeza,
for all of the Saiya-jin that
the demon has killed. Gokou is
deeply touched by the man who
was once his enemy, and in respect,
buries Vegeta on the battle-field.
Gokou, with new-found clarity,
begins his long battle with Freeza.
Much to Freeza's surprise, Gokou
shows that he is equal to the
tyrannical being. Before long,
Gokou and Freeza show that the
two of them are in for the fight
of their lives. Freeza realizes
the folly of his actions, and
soon powers up to what he claims
to be "50% of his true power".
With his newfound strength and
speed, Freeza begins to dominate
Gokou badly.
From the dead dimension, Kaio-sama
reveals that Gokou has in fact
been using his Kaioken manuever,
to a factor of 10, the entire
fight against Freeza. Almost as
quickly as this is revealed though,
Gokou ups the count to Kaioken
X 20. At first, Gokou manages
to beat up on Freeza slightly,
but then Freeza powers up a little
more, and Gokou is again bested.
Seeing no other choice, Gokou
begins powering up a Genki Dama,
and one far more powerful than
the one he created on Earth, by
using the energy from the entire
Namek solar system. Freeza doesn't
understand why Gokou is in such
a weird position, and joyfully
pounds on the Saiya-jin for a
little while longer. Piccolo soon
intervenes though, holding off
Freeza so that Gokou can continue
charging his Genki Dama. That
doesn't last very long though,
as Piccolo is no match for Freeza's
amazing power. Piccolo's desperate
tactics were enough to give Gokou
the time to power up his Genki
Dama, and just as Freeza realizes
what Gokou has been doing, the
Saiya-jin sends the huge ball
of ki energy directly towards
his enemy. Freeza is overpowered
by the blast, and there is a huge
explosion, as the face of Namek
is badly scarred.
It seems as though Freeza has
finally been defeated, and the
group rejoices after their victory.
But the very thought of victory
is soon lost, as Freeza shows
that he is very much alive. He
tries to kill Gokou with a finger
blast, but Piccolo throws himself
in the way, and takes a hole in
the chest from the blast. Freeza
doesn't stop there, though, and
takes Kuririn up from the ground
with his mind, before exploding
the human from the inside out.
In what is one of the most important
turning points of DBZ, Gokou is
enraged at witnessing his best
friend being exploded right before
his very eyes. He is overcome
with emotion, and in an explosion
of hate, turns into a true Super
Saiya-jin! His hair and aura have
turned gold, his eyes green, and
his power has increased by a huge
amount.
Gokou then tells Gohan to take
Piccolo to his space pod and head
back to Earth. Gohan does as he
is told, and when Freeza tries
to interject, Gokou sets Freeza
straight. Freeza is amazed at
Gokou's SSJ (Super Saiya-jin)
power, and in a crazed series,
repeatedly attempts to do some
damage to Gokou. It is soon evident
that Freeza is no match for Gokou
at this point though. In anger,
Freeza summons up a huge ball
of ki and throws it into the core
of Namek, and Gokou is in no position
to defend the helpless planet
against it. Freeza then reveals
that the planet will blow up in
five minutes, and that he is the
only one on the planet who can
survive in space.
Back on Earth, Kami finds himself
alive again after Piccolo was
wished back to life, and sends
Mr. Popo to collect all the dragonballs.
Once they are all done, Kami is
about to wish the human warriors
who died on Earth back to life,
but then Gokou intervenes and
tells them to wish everyone back
to life who was killed by Freeza
and his minions on Namek. Guru,
along with the rest of the Nameks
and Vegeta are revived, and in
the process, the Namek dragonballs
are given back their power. Since
Porunga (the Namek dragon) only
used two wishes, it still has
one remaining, and Dende is instructed
to make it. Gokou tells them to
wish for everyone except for himself
and Freeza to be transported back
to Earth. Porunga agrees, and
soon, everyone: Piccolo, Gohan,
Buruma, Vegeta, Guru and the rest
of the Nameks, are transported
to Earth. There, Guru gives the
powers of the dragonballs to another
Namek, and then dies in peace.
Freeza and SSJ Gokou continue
to face off, and before long,
Freeza is forced to power up to
100% of his true power. Even in
doing so, Gokou still maintains
the upper hand. Then, just when
Freeza is getting angry, Gokou
states that it is useless for
the fight to continue, and flies
away. Before he can leave though,
Freeza grows angry and hurls a
Kienzan at Gokou. The SSJ is forced
to dodge the attack repeatedly,
and then, when Freeza forms another
of the deadly discs, he is forced
to dodge two. Then, in Freeza's
own idiocy, Gokou directs one
of the discs directly through
Freeza's mid-section, leaving
him with only an active torso.
Gokou is about to leave, but Freeza
begs for mercy, and Gokou, being
too kind to refuse, gives Freeza
a small piece of his ki so that
he can escape. Freeza though,
does not even try to escape, instead
he attempts to finally kill Gokou.
Instead though, Gokou blasts a
beam through the evil being, seemingly
incinerating his body.
Gokou is then forced into a hasty
retreat, as all around him, Namek
is exploding into itself. He reaches
Freeza's ship, but finds that
it doesn't quite work. As Namek
explodes, we see Gokou plummeting
downwards, screaming.
